What Do You Think?

When I’m asked this question, it seems to give me permission to share an opinion. I’m not sure that is what is being asked.  I think I’m being asked the question because of my experience or knowledge. When attorney’s ask questions, they are gathering information. When they are asking questions from a different angle or perspective that are trying to validate or invalidate the previous answers.

I do think a lot. I think everyone thinks a lot. I must admit that I do some things without thinking. There are lots of things that I do that take a lot of thought and “thinking through” before concluding or deciding.

Jesus was being asked lots of questions from the religious leaders. Their questions were intended to trick Him into saying something against their religion. I love it when Jesus asked them a question because He knows their thoughts. Check this out…

41 Then, surrounded by the Pharisees, Jesus asked them a question: 42 “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?”

They replied, “He is the son of David.”

43 Jesus responded, “Then why does David, speaking under the inspiration of the Spirit, call the Messiah ‘my Lord’? For David said,

44 ‘The Lord said to my Lord,
Sit in the place of honor at my right hand
until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.’

45 Since David called the Messiah ‘my Lord,’ how can the Messiah be his son?”

46 No one could answer him. And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions. (Matthew 22:41-46 NLT)

I think a lot about Jesus. I believe that He is the Son of God. I believe He came to earth as a baby and lived among us. I believe that He shook the world with His teaching about God. He ushered in Grace and Love for the world. He was crucified for the sins of the world and rose to life three days later.

The things I think about Jesus have everything to do with what I believe about Him. I read the Word of God the deepen my thoughts and understanding of Who He is. As my faith grows deeper, I don’t have to “think” a lot about it. My behavior comes from what I believe. My thoughts come from what I believe.  I trust in God with my whole heart. I want everything I think about to pass through that filter of “What does God think?”

Pressing On!
