Saturday Sunday Psalms

I’m thankful for the weekend! It offers opportunity for a different type of pace. I sometimes work hard around the house on the weekend. I sometimes get away over the weekend. I sleep a bit later part of the weekend!

I started a Bible reading plan with our church family using the “H.E.A.R. method”. I read a specific passage each morning – Monday – Friday. I then journal.  Highlight what stands out to me. Explain what I think the scripture is saying. Apply the Word to my life personally. Respond in prayer or an action that I need to take.

On the weekends I started simply reading Psalms. I so enjoy the vulnerable of David’s writings and his real relationship with God. This morning I was reading Psalm 18. It’s a longer Psalm and David sang this song on the day the Lord rescued him from Saul and his enemies. Check this out…

I love you, Lord;
    you are my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
    my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
    and my place of safety.
I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
    and he saved me from my enemies. (Psalm 18:1-3 NLT)

I’m thankful for the Lord’s protection of me.

I’m thankful for the Lord’s Presence in me.

I’m thankful for the Lord’s favor upon me.

I’m thankful for the Lord’s perspective through His Word.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
