The Battles

I would say that I’ve fought many “battles” in my life. I haven’t served in the military per se. Most of my battles have been a bit personal and some of the time involved other people. The biggest part of my battles has been fought “between my ears”. Some of my battles are internal and hidden from view. The enemy is often invisible, but still strong. The enemy seeks to distract me from following the Lord. He creates fear and worry to take my eyes off following Jesus. He lies and manipulates like no one else. He is the master at dishonesty and deceit at the deepest levels.  I should not take these battles lightly.

I do have the Presence and Power of God on my side. I simply must lean into Him and call upon His help in the thick of the battle. He even helps me prepare for the battle.

Abijah, the grandson of Solomon is now king of Judah and Jeroboam is still king of Israel. Jeroboam is leading Israel farther from the Lord. A war broke out between the two sides and Abijah challenges the Israelites about their history of all that the Lord has done. He calls them out for not following the Lord. His faith is about to be tested. Check this out…

10 “But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not abandoned him. Only the descendants of Aaron serve the Lord as priests, and the Levites alone may help them in their work. 11 They present burnt offerings and fragrant incense to the Lord every morning and evening. They place the Bread of the Presence on the holy table, and they light the gold lampstand every evening. We are following the instructions of the Lord our God, but you have abandoned him.12 So you see, God is with us. He is our leader. His priests blow their trumpets and lead us into battle against you. O people of Israel, do not fight against the Lord, the God of your ancestors, for you will not succeed!”

13 Meanwhile, Jeroboam had secretly sent part of his army around behind the men of Judah to ambush them. 14 When Judah realized that they were being attacked from the front and the rear, they cried out to the Lord for help. Then the priests blew the trumpets,15 and the men of Judah began to shout. At the sound of their battle cry, God defeated Jeroboam and all Israel and routed them before Abijah and the army of Judah. (2 Chronicles 13:10-15 NLT)

I need the Lord’s help fighting every battle.

I need the Lord’s wisdom and discernment in preparation for every battle.

I’m still growing in my faith that the Lord goes before me in battle.

“This Is How I Fight My Battles (Surrounded)” by The Upper Room

I am trusting the Lord to fight on my behalf. He gives insight, wisdom and discernment that is like nothing else. His Presence is a Gamechanger for sure.

Pressing On!
