Surrounded

I really enjoy being surrounded by family. I love the holidays when we get to see family that we haven’t seen in a bit. I love gatherings for birthdays, anniversaries with friends. I also love being surrounded by friends. Friends are people who love me. Friends are people who care about me. They are often closer in some ways than family. Someone once said, “you can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family”. It’s a real blessing when your family are also among your friends.

When this word surrounded jumped off the pages of scripture this morning, it was referring to being surrounded by the Lord. I love that picture. Check this out….

Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion;
    they will not be defeated but will endure forever.
Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem,
    so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.

The wicked will not rule the land of the godly,
    for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong.
O Lord, do good to those who are good,
    whose hearts are in tune with you. (Psalm 125:1-4 NLT)

“It may look like I’m surrounded, but I’m surrounded by You”

There is often a lot of noise in my life that grabs my attention. The noise may come in the arena of responsibility. My calendar sometimes gets a bit crowded, and I feel smothered and surrounded.  I’m still learning to surrender my calendar and every area of my life to the Lord. He surrounds me with His Love, His Wisdom, His Mercy, His Grace.

I want to live surrounded by the Lord. I want the very Spirit of God in me and all around me.

I want to live surrounded by dear friends.

I want to live surrounded by family.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
