Sing Songs To The Lord

I really enjoy singing. The older I get the more I see the value in humming a tune under my breath or straight up singing in the shower. Singing is good for my soul. I’m not sure what chemicals are released into my body when I sing, but my heart is lighter when I sing.  My attitude is in check when I sing. I like all kinds of music, but I’m especially enjoying praise & worship music fromBethel& Hillsong. This music expresses my heart to God and rejuvenates my soul as I sing from my heart to His heart. I enjoy classic love songs. I enjoy country music. I enjoy rock music. I even enjoy some classical music. Music communicates in a way that words alone can’t touch.

The Psalms are a collection of writings and verse that can be put to music. Some of my favorite praise & worship music originated with the Psalms. Check this out….

Praise the Lord!

How good to sing praises to our God!
    How delightful and how fitting!

He heals the brokenhearted
    and bandages their wounds.
He counts the stars
and calls them all by name.
How great is our Lord! His power is absolute!
    His understanding is beyond comprehension!
The Lord supports the humble,
but he brings the wicked down into the dust.

Sing out your thanks to the Lord;
sing praises to our God with a harp.

10 He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse
    or in human might.
11 No, the Lord’s delight is in those who fear him,
those who put their hope in his unfailing love. (Psalm 147:1,3-7,10-11 NLT)

I want to express my gratitude to the Lord – a song is fitting.

I want to express my surrender to the Lord – a song can say it well.

I want to express my hurting heart to the Lord – a song can usher in hope.

I want to express my profound love for God – a song can express my heart.

A song was meant to be song and music was meant to be played. It’s really special when music and verse meet to express profound emotion and intellect to the Creator of everything.  Christmas music is about the event of Christmas and Jesus’ birth. Worship and praise music is more about my heart surrendered to Him.

Jesus We Love You

New Wine

These are two songs we’re singing at Southern Hills – The Church at City Stationthis Thursday evening.  Music is expressive. Music is healing. Music is transforming. Music is entertaining. Music is background ambiance. Music is emotional Music always seems to do something inside my soul. I’m thankful for songs that express my heart as well as move my heart toward His heart.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
