Quiet Strength

Some people are simply loud – they talk loudly, they laugh loudly, they whisper loudly. I can get loud, but I try to keep calm and weigh my words carefully.  I sometimes get loud when I’m in strong disagreement with another person. I think it actually harms my words when I get loud, because the volume of my voice overpowers the weight of my words. I’ve heard it said that the “squeaky wheel gets the grease”. There are times it’s an advantage to get loud or at least louder than the opposing view. The Lord doesn’t work like that. I learn more about Him in the quietness of the morning. I have shouted at Him in anger before and He is so patient as my emotions settle down. King David described this quiet strength very well. Check this out….

I wait quietly before God,
for my victory comes from him.

Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will not be shaken.
My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.
O my people, trust in him at all times.
Pour out your heart to him,
for God is our refuge. (Psalm 62:1,5-8 NLT)

I believe more battles for my heart are won in the quietness of the morning than in the loudness of my daily schedule. I am learning every day that the balance of my day and the direction of my day start in the quietness of my time with the Lord. He says things to me through His Word that I need to hear now. He says things to me through His Word that might apply later today or simply later in life. His Word speaks truth deep into my heart and continues to build my faith on a very strong foundation. The enemy is still doing what He does, but I’m stronger against the enemy all day when I’m quiet before the Lord in the morning. I talk to the Lord all day about temptations that come my way. I talk to Him about situations that I face. He knows me like no one else and He loves me like no one else. He enables me to love like He loves. He protects and provides like no one else and gives me the courage and strength to be a provider and protector of my family. I want to trust Him at all times and in every situation. All my hope is in Him. He is always here with me.

Pressing On!
