Purpose

Live on Purpose Words on Bulletin Board Fulfilling LifeI believe that my life has purpose and meaning given to me by the Lord. He created me to do His Work. He created me to honor Him. If everything I do connects back to His purpose for my life, then my life can be really full and fun. I must admit that I sometimes interrupt His purpose for my own selfish desires and purpose. It sounds really stupid as I write it out like that, but that is really what is happening. I know of the Lord’s plans, but I sometimes push His plans aside and pursue my own.

Paul instructs Timothy, his son in the faith, to carefully instruct the Ephesus church leaders to remember their purpose. Check this out….

Don’t let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees. These things only lead to meaningless speculations, which don’t help people live a life of faith in God.

The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith. But some people have missed this whole point. They have turned away from these things and spend their time in meaningless discussions. (1 Timothy 1:4-6 NLT)

I gathered from this passage that my number one purpose is simply to be filled with love for others. I don’t have to be heard, I can simply love from wherever I’m at. I don’t have to be up front or known by anyone other than the Lord in order to love deeply. I really love the source of this purpose. The love that he is speaking of comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience and genuine faith. I want to be known as a person who loves genuinely and on purpose. I know that the Lord loves, because He first loved me. He loved everyone first. He loved so that I could also love.

If my purpose is clear, the rest of my life falls in line behind that purpose. The Word makes it clear that my number one purpose as a Christ follower is love that comes from a pure heart, clear conscience and genuine faith. That purpose should be a permanent part of my calendar each day – to love others deeply.

Pressing On!
