Purity Of Heart

I have to confess that my heart is not always pure. I sometimes look out for my own interests even at the expense of others. I’ve seen what appears to be a pure heart in others, but the Lord only knows what a true, pure heart looks like. I can certainly keep a pure heart as a goal, but the only way I could possibly achieve it is with the Lord’s help. He is the ONLY ONE who can actually purify my heart. He defines what purity of heart looks like. He is the definition of a pure heart.

King David was called “a man after God’s heart” and as I read through his journal of sorts (Psalms), I can see how that happened. David displays a heart that seeks the Lord. David displays how to have a pure heart – asking God for it.  Check this out….

11 Teach me your ways, O Lord,
that I may live according to your truth!
Grant me purity of heart,
so that I may honor you.
12 With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God.
I will give glory to your name forever,
13 for your love for me is very great.
You have rescued me from the depths of death. (Psalm 86:11-13 NLT)

This simple passage/pray really blessed me. I don’t want to give the “perception” of a pure heart, I genuinely want to have a pure heart. I want the Lord to continue to craft my heart to be like His. I want to love like He loves. I want to give like He gives. I want to serve as He serves. I want “Grace” to drip from life upon others that I meet. I know that my heart honors the Lord way more than anything I could possibly do and whatever I do actually comes from my heart. I’m surrendering my heart again today to the Keeper of my heart.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
