Properly Dressed

I know it’s summertime and people dress differently. I just returned from Southern California, and it was a bit hotter than normal for them. We spent some days by the pool and on the beach. I was a bit stunned by what people wear (or should I say “don’t wear”) in public. I am a well-bred American male, but there are boundaries for sure. I probably should stop right there. I could rant a bit more but it’s a waste of time.

Paul challenges the church in Ephesus to get dressed with the full armor of God. Check this out…

11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:11-17 NLT)

Truth

God’s Righteousness

Peace

Faith

Salvation

Spirit

These six articles of “spiritual clothing” should be put on daily.

I know that there are times I’ve left off one of these important articles of clothing, but I can pick it back up in the middle of the day and put it on.

Jesus, the Son of God has set a high bar in how I should live. I value His Presence and His Perspective on my life. I need His help constantly against the enemy. The enemy is attractive and sneaky. I really want the actions and activities of my day to reflect the full armor of God and the Presence of Jesus in me.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
