Open Invite

An Open Invitation Words Business Door Welcoming Customers VisitThere are times that I get invitations to events that I really just don’t want to go. I also get invites to events when I’ve already made another commitment. I still haven’t figured out how to be in two places at once. Some invitations need a response from me and others can simply be ignored. If I’m invited to a friend’s birthday party, I realize that they need a “head-count” to know how much food to prepare. I like drop-in parties because I’m not bound by the clock and I can connect with people there and quietly slip out.

I came to the last passage of Revelation this morning, which is also the last passage in scripture. This passage comes with an open invite and a promise. Check this out….

16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this message for the churches. I am both the source of David and the heir to his throne. I am the bright morning star.”

17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come.” Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.(Revelation 22:16-17 NLT)

Jesus declares once again Who He is and invites everyone to come. I love this “invitation song” by Crowder that says it very well.

Come As You Are

Come out of sadness from wherever you’ve been
Come broken-hearted, let rescue begin
Come find your mercy, oh sinner come near
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t heal

Lay down your burdens, lay down your shame
All who are broken, lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home, you’re not too far
So lay down your hurt, lay down your heart
Come as you are

There’s hope for the hopeless and all those who’ve strayed
Come sit at the table, come taste the grace
There’s rest for the weary, rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can’t cure

So lay down your burdens, lay down your shame
All who are broken, lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home, you’re not too far
So lay down your hurt, lay down your heart
Come as you are
Come as you are
Fall in His arms
Come as you are

There’s joy for the morning, oh sinner be still
Earth has no sorrow, that heaven can’t heal
Earth has no sorrow, that heaven can’t heal

So lay down your burdens, lay down your shame
All who are broken, lift up your face
Oh wanderer come home, you’re not too far
So lay down your hurt, lay down your heart
Come as you are

_______________

I wish for others the hope that Jesus has brought to my life.

I wish for others the love and acceptance that Jesus has brought to my life.

I wish for others the sense of purpose that Jesus has brought to my life.

All that is needed is to accept the open invite that He still has open.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
