Morning Joy!

Our English language is a bit goofy at times. We have so many words that are pronounced the same, but because of the spelling or usage they are different. I never noticed this so much until our “Nica Kid” was learning our language. To this day, he will say: “Why do you do that?” To which I reply: “I’m not in charge of the English language!” The word “morning” means a new day or the first part of the new day. The word “mourning” means sorrowful or lamenting loss. I love the morning time, but mourning is a place of struggle, suffering and pain. I love hearing from the Lord in the morning because it can set the tone for my day.

I’m working my way through the Psalms and King David wrote the majority of them. His personal struggle is not a secret. His journey with God through the midst of the twists and turns in his life are inspirational to me for sure. Check this out…

Sing to the Lord, all you godly ones!
    Praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping may last through the night,
but joy comes with the morning.

10 Hear me, Lord, and have mercy on me.
    Help me, O Lord.”

11 You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing.
You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy,
12 that I might sing praises to you and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever!(Psalm 30:4-5,10-12 NLT)

A new day is a new start. I do have some things that carried over from yesterday, but yesterday is in the history books and can’t be changed. I don’t know anyone who can change their past. I can do something different today than would have done it in the past.

I love the line in this Psalm that God’s anger is short, but “His favor lasts a lifetime”! I so want the favor of God upon my life. I would rather be “mildly successful” with the favor of God upon me than to be wildly successful without the favor of God. I actually believe that true success is determined by the Presence of God.  When I stand before the Lord as I enter heaven, my annual earnings here on earth will not be looked at prior to my entrance to heaven. The way I have lived and loved will matter way more. I want the joy of the Lord to be noticed in my heart and the way I live my life.

Most recently, I’ve been singing this song that declares the goodness of God.

God, You’re So Good by Passion

Amazing love
That welcomes me
The kindness of mercy
That bought with blood, wholeheartedly
My soul undeserving

God, You’re so good
Oh God, You’re so good
God, You’re so good
You’re so good to me

Behold the cross
Age to age
And hour by hour
The dead are raised, the sinner saved
The work of Your power

I am blessed, I am called
I am healed, I am whole
I am saved in Jesus’ name

Highly favored, anointed
Filled with Your power
For the glory of Jesus’ name

And should this life
Bring suffering
Lord, I will remember
What Calvary has bought for me
Both now and forever

God, You’re so good
God, You’re so good
God, You’re so good
You’re so good to me

God’s mercies are new every morning. He brings joy when I seek His face with my whole heart. He always changes my perspective.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
