Love Big!

I grew up feeling loved by many people close to me. There were others who weren’t very loving and kind, but they were more background noise in my life compared to the love I felt from my parents, grandparents and our large family. I have learned first-hand that love cuts through a lot of noise and rhetoric.  Love is simple, yet hard at times. Love is quiet but can be loud at times. The word “love” can be used and mis-used, but genuine love is probably the most powerful force on this earth.

God is the One Who introduced everyone to the concept and emotion of love. I believe love was “hard-wired” into us when were created. The more we grow in our understanding of love depends largely on us. I am responsible for my love to others. I am responsible for my love for God. I am responsible for my love for me.

John, “the disciple that Jesus loved” penned four of the books of the New Testament. He wrote my favorite of the four gospels of Jesus. (I believe he covered an angle of Jesus’ ministry that gives insight to Jesus’ love for us.) He also wrote three letters that are really powerful. My heart is moved by the depth of God’s love, mercy and grace. John reminds me of this. Check this out…

Grace, mercy, and peace, which come from God the Father and from Jesus Christ—the Son of the Father—will continue to be with us who live in truth and love.

I am writing to remind you, dear friends, that we should love one another. This is not a new commandment, but one we have had from the beginning. Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning. (2 John 1:3, 5-6 NLT)

He reminds me to love.

He reminds me of God’s love.

He reminds me of God’s grace.

He reminds me of God’s mercy.

He reminds me of God’s peace.

I’m reminded that love is not always the easiest thing to do, but it’s always the right thing to do. Love is not weak and helpless. Love is strong and consistent. Love doesn’t always say “yes”. Love doesn’t always mean that everything will be pain free. I believe that Love from God reminds me that He will never leave me alone. I believe that God is with me in the darkest of times and the move joy-filled times. His love is the biggest game-changer in my life. I’m still learning to love like He loves, even while embracing His profound love for me.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
