Kindness

I really work at being kind to others. It’s harder to be kind to them when they are being rude or disrespectful. It’s easier to be kind to kind people. It’s easier to be kind to humble people. It’s easier to be kind to others when they have demonstrated love and respect toward me.  I get frustrated with myself when I let others push buttons that turn my kindness to frustration and anger in a microsecond.

When I think of God’s kindness and patience toward me, I’m humbled and grateful. I do want to live with kindness and patience toward others because He has my heart.

Paul is pushing hard on the church at Rome about judgmental attitudes toward others. He reminds the believers there that the judgement you use on others will be used on you. He then asks a few questions that really made me think. Check this out…

Since you judge others for doing these things, why do you think you can avoid God’s judgment when you do the same things? Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? (Romans 2:3-4 NLT)

I was reminded of a song that ministered to me several years ago.

Kindness by Chris Tomlin

It’s your kindness lord
That leads us to repentance
Your favor lord, is our desire
It’s your beauty lord
That makes us stand in silence
Your love – Your love
Is better than life

The kindness that the Lord shows me daily calls upon me to be kind to others.

The patience that the Lord shows me daily calls upon me to be patient with others.

I’m humbled and grateful for the Lord’s Love, Grace, Kindness, Mercy & Patience with me as I seek to live out my faith while I’m here on earth.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
