Invest

I have learned about investing over the years. I have made some good investments over the years along with some bad investments. Investments come in lots of different shapes and sizes. There are financial investments. There are emotional investments. There are physical investments. There are spiritual investments. Some investments are tangible and measurable, and others are intangible and hard to measure.

As I was reading the final chapter in Paul’s first letter to the church in Thessalonica, he laid out a few instructions to leaders in the church. He is brief and to the point. Check this out…

14 Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.

15 See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.

16 Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:14-18 NLT)

This passage reminded me to be kind and gentle but firm and to the point. I want to listen to God’s Spirit speaking into me prior to ever speaking into the lives of others. I want to be patient with others – even those closest to me.

I want to follow the Lord in my every day, walking around life. I don’t want to be intrusive of others’ lives or boundaries. I do want to be gentle, tender, and firm. I want to be clear with what the Lord is speaking into my heart. I want to be generous and kind to all. To invest in others is a high and holy calling from the Lord.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
