I’m Thirsty

I love a refreshing glass of lemonade or water on a hot sweltering day. There are times that I’m simply thirsty because of something salty that I’ve eaten. Our body need hydration throughout each day for it to function properly.  I used to drink a lot of Diet Coke and other carbonated drinks because of the taste a fizz. I’m learned as I get older that my body does much better with water for hydration.

In Jesus early part of His ministry, He was teaching about water – the woman at the well and in the temple. He spoke of Living Water and it was a foreign concept to people who heard this.  I’m journeying through John’s perspective on Jesus’ life and the incident occurs on the last day of the Jewish feast of shelters. Check this out….

37 On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! 38 Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” 39 (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.) (John 7:37-39 NLT)

Living Water that Jesus was speaking of was the Presence of the Holy Spirit in me when I surrender my life to Him. I have a Counselor and Teacher living inside of me. When Jesus was speaking about this, He was letting them know that this would happen in the future. After His resurrection, the Holy Spirit came upon all who believe in Jesus as the One and Only Son of God.

I believe that the Holy Spirit prompts me.

I believe that the Holy Spirit gives me wisdom, discernment and insight.

I believe that the Holy Spirit clarifies my thoughts.

I believe that the Holy Spirit walks with me through struggle and suffering.

I believe that the Holy Spirit reminds me of Who God is and that I’m His kid.

Just like water refreshes my entire body, the Holy Spirit refreshes my soul and strengthens my faith in the Lord.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
