Grace & Mercy

I learned about Grace and Mercy later in life. I grew up with rules and regulation galore. It was the way of the church that I was part of. It was the background of my parents. The longer I walk with the Lord, the sweeter and deeper my understanding of grace and mercy becomes.

There are Christ followers who somehow miss the concept of grace and mercy. In some ways my heart hurts for them because this is a bondage of sorts. They are bound up by rules and regulations. Please don’t misunderstand – I’m not saying, “anything goes”.  I have come face to face with the grace and mercy of God and it brings with it such freedom and insight to the very heart of God.  Those who miss out on the grace and mercy of God are mostly uptight and miserable because they are afraid of breaking their self-imposed rules. They resemble the Pharisees in having extra supplemental rules to scripture.

I love Paul’s introduction to the Galatia church, and he is already letting his words drip with mercy and grace. Check this out….

May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen. (Galatians 1:3-5 NLT)

Your Grace Finds Me  by Matt Redman

It’s there in a newborn cry
There in the light of every sunrise
There in the shadows of this life
Your great grace

It’s there on the mountain top
There in the everyday and the mundane
There in the sorrow and the dancing
Your great grace
Oh, such grace

From the creation to the cross
There from the cross into eternity
Your grace finds me
Yes, Your grace finds me

It’s there on the wedding day
There in the weeping by the gravesite
There in the very breath we breathe
Your great grace

It’s the same for the rich and poor
The same for the saint and for the sinner
Enough for this whole wide world
Your great grace
Oh, such grace

I’m so thankful for His Grace & Mercy!

Pressing On!

Dwayne
