Good News!

It’s a bit rare to find good news when watching “the news”. If the news casts were all about good news, there probably wouldn’t be a big audience for the ad revenue needed. That tells something about our society and the reason the news is a bit flashy and flamboyant. They are selling advertising to keep the news station profitable, and they need people watching to increase their audience.  It is a struggle to know where to learn the truth about what is happening in our world without some skewed angle or bias.

I remember during the COVID-1 shut down of 2020, John Krasinski started a YouTube channel called “Some Good News”. Here is a link to the first episode: Episode 1. It was funny and light-hearted news of the day. I think our world is hungry – no starving for some Good News!  Paul kicks of his letter to the Christians at Rome telling them the Good News of Jesus. Check this out…

God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures. The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.(Romans 1:2-4 NLT)

I’m reminded of my need for Jesus as the Good News. He came to earth to become the final sacrifice for sin. He rose from the dead and now I don’t need to fear death.  The more I examine Jesus, the more I believe that He is Who He said He was.

The path to navigating the challenges and struggles of this life is to keep my eyes fixed upon Jesus.  I love this song: He Is Jesus by North Point Live.

No other name but the name of Jesus, no other life than the life you gave

the enemy crushed and death defeated, forever you reign, forever you reign

No other name but the name of Jesus, no other life than the life you gave

the enemy crushed and death defeated, forever you reign, forever you reign

I needed reminding this morning what the Presence of Jesus has done in my life.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
