God’s Will

I used to always say “Lord willing” before my plans. The older I get the more I realize that all I do and say is subject to His will. Everywhere I go and everyone I meet is subject to His will. The thing is, God doesn’t force His will upon me. I also don’t believe that “the devil made me do it”!

The Lord has given me free will to make decisions and choices from my own perspective and experience. A smart person observes the consequences of other’s decisions and applies them to the decisions they are faced with. I came across a sentence that made me think more about how I follow God’s will. Check this out…

31 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him. They stood outside and sent word for him to come out and talk with them. 32 There was a crowd sitting around Jesus, and someone said, “Your mother and your brothers are outside asking for you.”

33 Jesus replied, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 34 Then he looked at those around him and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. 35 Anyone who does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” (Mark 3:31-35 NLT)

I want to follow God’s will. I want to follow God’s will for my life. I realize that I have a will for my family. I want them all to know Jesus. I want them all to live for Him. I want them all to follow Him. That is my will for my kids, and I think it’s God’s will for me. He wants me to know Jesus, to live for Him and follow Him.

As I seek the Lord through His Word, I learn to discern His will for my day ahead. I have been faced with situations or decisions that the will of God is clear.  God’s will for me is broad and relatively simple. He wants me to love others the way He loves me. He wants me to serve others because of my love for Him.

Pressing On!
