God’s Help

I could write volumes of true-life stories of how God has been the Game Changer in a battle or struggle that I’ve faced over the years. He has walked with me through many really hard trials. When I look back on those times now, they don’t seem so big and bad. At the time I was trudging through them, the days were long and very hard.

Heartbreak in relationship

Fired from my job

Devastating Divorce

Nearly Bankrupt

Adoption process in Nicaragua

Cancer fight with my son

My son’s near-death fall from a tree

The Lord is ALWAYS with me. He has never left me to walk through things alone. There are times I “feel” alone, but He keeps His Promises. I know people whose list is much longer and even more devastating that my experiences.

I was reminded of His Presence this morning as I read of His rescue of His people from a Canaanite king. He led His people to a victory, and He helped them defeat the enemy when the odds were stacked against them. Check this out….

23 So on that day Israel saw God defeat Jabin, the Canaanite king. 24 And from that time on Israel became stronger and stronger against King Jabin until they finally destroyed him. (Judges 4:23 NLT)

As I write these words, our country is in the middle of the Coronavirus Crisis and it’s spreading like wildfire across our country. Our president has declared a national emergency. Our governor has declared a health emergency. Churches are suspending gatherings; businesses are going through shut-down or partial shutdown. It’s hard to know what to do.  I’m reminded this morning as I’ve been talking with the Lord about all of this, He is still here. His Presence is still shaping my perspective. He was not surprised by this pandemic. He will take this bad event and use it for good. Check this out….

26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. (Romans 8:26-28 NLT)

I’m going to continue to pray for wisdom, discernment and direction each day. There are many unknowns about this virus and our current state of emergency. Our economy is shaky. Our lives are being paused.  His Presence is here. He will NOT leave. He is my Help when I’m not sure what to say, do, or think. He provides clarity. He provides peace. He is here to help me in every situation I face. My circumstances and situations do not scare the Lord or diminish His Power. He doesn’t back down from a fight or cower in weakness. He is strong. He is faithful. He is steady when the ground beneath my feet is shaking. He is the Rock Eternal.

This is how I fight my battles – surrounded by the Lord Himself.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
