Faith

I have had faith in God for a long time. I accepted Christ when I was in third grade. The longer I live, the more I get to know Him and the more I love Him. He speaks to me through His Word and He speaks into my heart in prayer and in multiple ways.  I grew up trying to always do the right thing to be saved. The more I study His Word, I realize that I do the right thing BECAUSE I’m saved not to be saved.

As I was reading Galatians this morning, I realized that I was so much like the people Paul was writing to. I thought I could do enough to be saved. I thought that my good works counted toward my salvation. It is my deep faith that directs my behavior. Check this out…

22 But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God’s promise of freedom only by believing in Jesus Christ.

23 Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed.

24 Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith. 25 And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian. (Galatians 3:23-25 NLT)

My faith is in Jesus Christ, the One and Only Son of God. He died on a cross for my sins and He rose on the third day conquering death. I live the way I live because He saved me. I live the way I live because He saved me. I am thankful that His Grace is big enough to rescue me from the stupidity of my sin today. He is so patient when I stumble and trip. He is filled with mercy and grace that I don’t deserve but He gives it in wave after wave.

I am free from the law.

I surrender my life in obedience to the call of Jesus upon my life.

My values are clear and my decisions are not hard when I’m focused on His Word and the life He’s called me to live.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
