Desperate Situation

I’ve been in several desperate situations over the years. There seemed to be no way out of them without great pain. There were times when it was painful. There was way more times that I often feared the worse-case-scenario and it never came to pass. The Lord has walked with me through some desperate situations that were significant and challenging. I will often seek the counsel of some wise friends or family members when I’m in a desperate situation. I will certainly talk to the Lord as I navigate desperate situations too.

King David has sinned against the Lord. He repented of his sin, but the Lord was about to issue punishment. Check this out….

11 The next morning the word of the Lord came to the prophet Gad, who was David’s seer. This was the message: 12 “Go and say to David, ‘This is what the Lord says: I will give you three choices. Choose one of these punishments, and I will inflict it on you.’”

13 So Gad came to David and asked him, “Will you choose three years of famine throughout your land, three months of fleeing from your enemies, or three days of severe plague throughout your land? Think this over and decide what answer I should give the Lord who sent me.”

14 “I’m in a desperate situation!” David replied to Gad. “But let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is great. Do not let me fall into human hands.” (2 Samuel 24:11-14 NLT)

I love David’s reply to “fall into the hands of the Lord for His mercy is great”. I will walk through any situation that I can possibly face as long as I’m in the Hands of the Lord. He gives me strength to face whatever. He gives me wisdom to see all the options. He goes before me to prepare me. He gives me grace when I deserve punishment. He forgives me when I deserve a most severe punishment.

I’ve heard that “desperate times call for desperate measures”.  I’m going to trust the Lord in the most desperate of times. He holds my life in His hands. He can see the different scenarios played out to completion and I can’t always see beyond the tip of my nose.  He is faithful. His Love for me is profound. I trust the Lord with my very life. I trust Him with my situation and my circumstances no matter how desperate they are.

Pressing On!
