Consistent & Steady

Depositphotos_53173037_s-2015There are so many things in my world that are inconsistent and unstable. There are more things than I can count, and I have very little control over most of them. I’m learning to simply focus on the things which I do have control over. I can control my attitude toward inconsistent and unstable events. I can control my responses to inconsistent & unstable people as well as events. I’m thankful that the Lord doesn’t “smack me around a bit” when I’m an inconsistent and unstable kid of His. Peter reminds Christ followers to dig in and be self-disciplined, consistent & steady. Check this out….

The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.

10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.  (1 Peter 4:7-10 NLT)

It is easier to talk about loving others than it is to really love them.

It is easier to tell others to love like Jesus than to actually do it myself.

I am “consistently inconsistent” more than I’m steady and consistent. I’m thankful for the amazing grace and patience of God. I am a needy individual for sure when it comes to inspiration, encouragement and motivation. The Lord’s Word speaks into my life. His Presence in me really changes my response to events that happen to me or around me. I think when I learn to love others big, my struggles get smaller. My love for God should be displayed in my treatment of others, whether they are lovable or hard to love. I’m reminded that the guy who penned the words of Scripture above was the one who denied knowing Jesus 3 times, the night before Jesus was killed. Peter was restored and changed forever because of the grace and forgiveness shown to him by the Lord.

I believe the life I’m called to live a simple life of love and service to the Lord by loving and serving others. It is simple, but it’s NOT easy. I need His help every step of the way.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
