Actions Count

I know that I’m responsible my actions. There is the rule of law that requires that I behave withing it’s boundaries. There is a code of behavior in my profession that I live by.  I also am responsible for “inaction”.  As a Christ-follower, He calls me to love and serve others.  I can’t simply ignore people in need.  Over the years, I’ve tried to become a bit more discerning when helping others. There are people who simply don’t want to work and want to “play on” the emotions of others to simply give them. Don’t misunderstand, there are people in need around me and there are also some sluggards who are lazy.  Jesus calls us to serve because when we serve others, we are serving Him. Check this out….

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ (Matthew 25:34-40 NLT)

God’s economic model is drastically different in so many ways. The first will be last and the last will be first. We serve Him by loving and serving others. We give to others and we’re giving to Him.  Talk is cheap and my actions out-shout my words. I want to listen to the prompting of the Lord and help others.  I want the Lord to open my eyes today to the needs of those around me. I think it starts with my family and expands into the world around me.

I don’t want to be a follower of Jesus who only talks a good talk. I want my actions to reflect and be consistent with what I believe.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
