A Prayer For Favor

I don’t remember being the “teacher’s pet”, but I do remember some teachers who have liked me over the years. I like to be liked. I try hard not to be a jerk or an arrogant person. The Lord really changed my heart and I’ve learned to see others as He sees them. He created others in His image as well as me. I really want favor with God more than favor with others. I believe if I have favor with God, it shapes my heart to find favor with others as well. The Lord wired me to serve and I actually enjoy helping others. Zig Ziglar was famous for saying: “If you help others get what they want, you will get what you want.” David prayed often for God’s favor on him and his family. Check this out….

12 May our sons flourish in their youth
    like well-nurtured plants.
May our daughters be like graceful pillars,
    carved to beautify a palace.
13 May our barns be filled
    with crops of every kind.
May the flocks in our fields multiply by the thousands,
    even tens of thousands,
14     and may our oxen be loaded down with produce.
May there be no enemy breaking through our walls,
    no going into captivity,
no cries of alarm in our town squares.
15 Yes, joyful are those who live like this!
Joyful indeed are those whose God is the Lord. (Psalm 144:12-15 NLT)

I am blessed with a large family. I’m so thankful for each one of them. They each touch my heart in a unique way. I have to be careful to not place my family ahead of my walk with the Lord. I talk to Him often about this, because I love my family so much. I want my family to continue to grow in their faith in God. I believe this is the most important task for me as Dad. I want to be an example of God’s love as well. I pray for God’s favor to continue upon me and my family. I want Him to enlarge my influence and my leadership. I want Him to live and work through me to accomplish His goals. I want to be His hands and His feet to the world around me. I need His wisdom and His discernment about where the resources He’s blessed me with are needed most.

Pressing On!
