Worship In Heaven

Worship to GodI’m currently reading through the book of Revelation – a chapter each day. I’m asking the Lord to speak truth into my heart as I journey through His Word. I’ve always wrestled with this book and the symbolism and visions contained there. It’s not easy for me to understand at times. I believe the overall theme of the book is a revealing of God in heaven and a subtle warning (at times not so subtle) about being prepared for eternity.  I was reminded this week that my life here on earth is directly connected to my eternal life.

I heard a pastor speaking about Revelation challenge us to “give the brother a break” because John was seeing things that he had no idea how to describe with language. This morning he describes a scene where the scroll needed to be opened, but no one was qualified except the Lamb of God. When the Lamb of God (aka Jesus) steps forward to open the scroll, the residents of heaven and earth realize His qualifications because of what He has done on behalf of the world. Check this out….

13 And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang:

“Blessing and honor and glory and power
belong to the one sitting on the throne
and to the Lamb forever and ever.”

14 And the four living beings said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped the Lamb. (Revelation 5:13-14 NLT)

I simply can’t always wrap my mind around the price Jesus paid. I also can’t always understand and grasp the Love of God that pushed Him to allow His One and Only Son to die on my behalf. I was reminded of how God’s love isn’t logical. His love is reckless and far reaching. I would be wise to be on my face in worship, because the promise I have of an abundant life here and an eternal life after this life was purchased by Jesus laying down His life for me.

Reckless Love

Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me

Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God

When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me

And oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God

There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
