Witness

Permission to approach the witness (OLVI008_OU345_F)I remember a Saturday morning a couple of years ago when an auto accident happened in front of me. I couldn’t believe what was happening, this green car was coming from a road to the right and didn’t stop but plowed into a truck right in front of us. The car overturned and landed on its top. Thankfully, both drivers were ok, even though they were shaken up. I began trying to help, while waiting for the first responders to show up. It was a rural road in Eastern Alabama, so it took a few minutes. When the state patrol arrived and started putting the pieces of the accident together, my mind was confused. I had the wrong guy causing the accident. I was totally embarrassed that I couldn’t remember what I say. (Some would say it’s a sign of my old age!) Thankfully there were other witnesses to help the investigation, since I was of very little help. I was pretty good a directing traffic, but a terrible witness.

The book of Revelation has always been a bit of a mystery to me. John, one of the apostles with Jesus was exiled to the island of Patmos for preaching about Jesus. His message didn’t sit well with the Jewish leaders who maintained that Jesus wasn’t the Messiah, the Son of God. John receives in instructions from Jesus. Check this out….

17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as if I were dead. But he laid his right hand on me and said, “Don’t be afraid! I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.

19 “Write down what you have seen—both the things that are now happening and the things that will happen.(Revelation 1:17-19 NLT)

I’m not sure I can wrap my head around all that John saw in his vision. I can imagine that he was writing this stuff down as fast as he could. He sees Jesus, the One he had followed in ministry. He had witnessed Jesus healing the sick, making the blind see and even raising the dead. I think John’s memory came roaring back after seeing Jesus in his vision.

I want to be a good witness of all that I’ve seen and heard from the Lord over the years. I can’t make promises on His behalf, but I can say without a doubt that all the promises He makes, He keeps. I have story after story in my own personal life, where the Lord shaped the outcome of events. His Presence has calmed my spirit on multiple occasions on any given day. I am a personal witness to His Healing Power and His Presence. I can’t make Him do anything, but I can ask Him for anything. He has healed my heart more times than I can count. I can’t imagine living life without Him after what I’ve been through with Him.I only wish I could remember more details of all that He has done for me. I’m so humbled and thankful for His Grace and Forgiveness after what I’ve put Him through. He is so patient and kind. I am excited about living for Him while I’m here on earth and then living forever with Him when it’s time for my arrival in heaven.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
