Who Am I?

I think it’s important to know who I am. I’m clear on my values and my convictions. I know what I believe and Who I believe in.  I am a Christ follower. I am a husband to Tina. I am a Dad to my children. I am Pop to my grandchildren. I am a teacher. I am a friend. I am a REALTOR.  I am nothing without Jesus. I have no hope without Jesus. I am who He wants me to be.

Who do others think I am?

What is my reputation?

Jesus asked His disciples this question and Peter nailed it. Check this out….

13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

14 “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.”

15 Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:13-16 NLT)

What the people closest to me think of me matters the most to me. They know me well not simply by what they’ve heard. Others can form an opinion of me based on one encounter or one interaction. Those who are part of my day-to-day life can see what my values and convictions are. They know if I’m consistent and accountable. Talk is cheap, but lived out values and convictions speak volumes about what I believe.

I care more about what God thinks of me than what others think of me.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)

I am chosen, not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me, not against me
I am who You say I am
I am who You say I am

Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God, yes, I am
In my Father’s house
There’s a place for me
I’m a child of God, yes, I am (Hillsong Music)

Who You Say I Am

I’m humbled and grateful that God calls me His kid. I want to make Him proud of me. I want my life to bring attention and honor to Him.

Pressing On!
