Wealth Building
I spent just over 20 years of my life in ministry. I felt called to be a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ very early in my life. I wanted to serve Him. I met a lot of ministers along the way who were wealthy. They didn’t have a lot of material things that some use to define wealth, they had great contentment. They knew who they were. They knew “Whose” they were. I realized that I was very blessed with relationships that would last my entire life. I was wealthy in spiritual values. Over 15 years ago, I started a new career in Real Estate and I saw a different kind of wealth building. This kind of wealth building was very different for sure. The common denominator in all wealth building techniques is investing in the future, whether is the future of relationships or the future of my bank account. The bank account wealth building can be dangerous and it’s important to stay grounded deeply in my faith in order to do it well. Check this out….
6 Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. 7 After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. 8 So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.
9 But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. 18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. 19 By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life. (1 Timothy 6:6-10, 17-19 NLT)
Wealth building doesn’t have to happen at the expense of my faith. My faith in God can actually help me stay grounded as I build wealth.
He teaches me to be thankful.
He teaches me to be disciplined.
He teaches me to serve others.
He teaches me to be obedient.
He teaches me to love extravagantly.
He gives me wisdom and insight.
My wealth is His, I’m simply the manager of it. I want to continue to build wealth spiritually and financially so that my life can have even greater impact on the Kingdom. I don’t want to ever be selfish or self-serving. I want to put my complete trust in the Son of God and NEVER simply trust in my bank account. I want to be wealthy in spiritual values and I want my bank account to always serve those values first.
Pressing On!
