Warrior Worshipper

I don’t consider myself a warrior in the military sense. I was raised as a patriotic American and I was so willing to defend our freedom and our values on the world stage. I’m so thankful for those in our military who stand guard over our country. There are those who don’t even know us, but want to destroy us. This freedom we have doesn’t come without costs. During the pandemic, I have realized how it feels to have freedoms restricted and they have been small. I can hardly imagine growing up in a place where this is a normal part of life.

David, the shepherd boy, now warrior king was a strong warrior. He was not afraid of a fight, nor did he back down from one. I do think he was a warrior while also a worshipper of God. His writings even during some difficult days gave insight to his heart which was in pursuit of God.  Check this out….

1 David sang this song to the Lord on the day the Lord rescued him from all his enemies and from Saul. He sang:

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
    my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
    and my place of safety.
He is my refuge, my savior,
    the one who saves me from violence.
I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
    and he saved me from my enemies.

26 “To the faithful you show yourself faithful;
    to those with integrity you show integrity.
27 To the pure you show yourself pure,
    but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd.
28 You rescue the humble,
    but your eyes watch the proud and humiliate them.
29 O Lord, you are my lamp.
    The Lord lights up my darkness.

31 “God’s way is perfect.
    All the Lord’s promises prove true.
    He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.
32 For who is God except the Lord?
    Who but our God is a solid rock?
33 God is my strong fortress,
    and he makes my way perfect. (2 Samuel 22:1-4, 26-29, 31-33 NLT)

I need to remember that every battle is not worth the fight.

I need to remember that winning the war is done one battle at a time.
I need the Lord’s wisdom in choosing which battle to fight.

I need to remember the power in surrendering to the Lord prior to going into any battle that comes my way that I should fight. A surrendered heart to the Lord is a powerful weapon of protection. I want to be a warrior worshipper who trusts the Lord and seeks His Wisdom, His Presence and His Protection to face the day ahead.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
