Wait & Sing

I’ve heard that sometimes you just have to “wait and see”. I’m not a fan of waiting. I don’t consider myself a patient person, but I’m working on it. I like things to happen in sequence and on time. I like for traffic in the fast lane to move faster than the other lanes. I’m not struggling with road rage, but I have to push it off of me at times. I like to get where I’m going in the least amount of wasted time. I’ve wondered what I’ve done with the extra time saved from these “time-saving” devices that I now have at my disposal. I used to have to cook all my food on the stove or in the oven. The microwave changed that. The internet made searching for business phone numbers much more convenient. I’m pretty sure that I’ve simply tried to get more things done in the time saved.

King David penned a Psalm about protection and rescue from his enemies. He realized the power of God and took a different approach to dealing with them. Check this out….

You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me,
for you, O God, are my fortress.

16 But as for me, I will sing about your power.
Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love.
For you have been my refuge,
a place of safety when I am in distress.
17 O my Strength, to you I sing praises,
for you, O God, are my refuge,
the God who shows me unfailing love. (Psalm 59:9,16-17 NLT)

King David waited for rescue. He decided to sing about God’s Love and God’s Power. The Lord loves to hear songs about Him. When I sing songs about God’s Love, Power, Grace, Mercy, Presence, and more – the songs reveal my perspective of God. My songs should reveal and reflect my heart that trusts in the Lord no matter what.

I really need to sing more in the face of struggle and suffering. I need to reset my heart from worry to praise and worship. I need to sing of His “Reckless Love” and be reminded to stand in the face of fear because He will NEVER leave me alone.

In the past couple of days, I was reminded that death hear on earth is very much part of life. Everyone on planet earth will face death. I don’t want to fear it. I know the One Who holds the keys to life and death.

I love the song called “Death Was Arrested”which reminds me that the Lord is in control of the events of my life.

Oh, Your grace so free
Washes over me
You have made me new
Now life begins with You
It’s your endless love
Pouring down on us
You have made us new
Now life begins with You

I’m going to wait and sing to the Lord and live in His Strength and His Peace. He is still Lord of all!

Pressing On!

Dwayne
