Valuable

There are parts of this life that are considerably more valuable than others. There are wealthy people who would trade their wealth for their healthy. There are poor people who would trade anything to be wealthy. I believe wealth to be a relative term.  If I give a dollar figure to wealth, I am leaving out a significant part of life. There are times that wealthy causes more trouble than it’s worth.

I’ve had the privilege to travel to other parts of the world and see poverty and riches firsthand. The common element in both situations are the people. There are those who are rich and filled with joy who don’t have much money. There are people who have lots of money but are very poor in spirit and filled with despair.

Jesus reminded His followers of the value of the Kingdom of Heaven. It is worth pursuing with all that is within me. Check this out….

44 “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.

45 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. 46 When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it! (Matthew 13:44-46 NLT)

My value system can’t be totally based on money. I do like food with my meals. The Kingdom of Heaven is way more important and significant than fortune or fame. The Kingdom of Heaven delivers peace, purpose and hope. The Kingdom of Heaven is the Lord’s Presence in me. Jesus speaks to this later in His ministry when He speaks about the costs of following Him. Check this out….

26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? (Matthew 16:26 NLT)

I have found the most valuable relationship ever – my relationship with the Son of God. He is the Conduit to gain access to God. He counsels me. He forgives me. He loves me. He changes my perspective. He brings peace.  I am blessed and rich beyond my wildest imagination because of His Presence in me.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
