Used By God

I know what it’s like to feel used by another person. When I became a REALTOR, I felt like people treated me as a second-class professional. I think people thought that I was only out for myself and they were probably not far off in their thought. I have since learned that as a REALTOR, I’m in a “serving profession” NOT a “sales profession”.  I don’t want to be “used” as a REALTOR, I want to serve others in the selling and purchase of real estate. I want to help. I want to protect.  It’s way for fun to work like this.

When Mary and Joseph arrive in the historical narrative of God’s Word, they are very young. They surrendered themselves to be used by God. Being used by God is significantly different than being used by people.  God is Creator of all. God is Sustainer of life. God is the Source of all that I am and all that I hope to be. It’s a huge honor to be used by God.  The story of Jesus coming to earth started with two young people willing to be used by God. Check this out….

18 This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph, to whom she was engaged, was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly.

20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”

22 All of this occurred to fulfill the Lord’s message through his prophet:

23 “Look! The virgin will conceive a child!
She will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel,
which means ‘God is with us.’”

24 When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife. (Matthew 1:18-24 NLT)

I’m no longer a teenager, but I still want to be used by God.

I want to use my life here on earth to point others to the Lord, the Source of Eternal Life.

I want my life here to show the hope I have found in walking out my faith in God.

I may never do something for God as monumental as Mary & Joseph, but I want to live in simple obedience to Him and allow Him to use me however He wants to for His Kingdom’s sake.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
