Tired & Worn Out

I once heard a guy say that “if he had known he was going to live this long, he would have taken better care of his body”. He was having a few issues related to his health. This past weekend the time changed to Daylight Savings Time here in the US. I love the longer days because I know spring and summer are on the way. I have to say that I was pretty exhausted on the first full workday of the new time. Some days the mental strain and physical strain simply wear me out. When I feel tired and weary, I just remember that there are a lot of people who would trade places with me in a second. If I will stop and give thanks to the Lord for all He has blessed me with, I’m not quite as tired. A small tweak in my perspective can help a lot.

Isaiah is reminding Israel that the Lord is strong and in charge. He starts giving hints to the coming of the Son of God. He is still speaking somewhat in code, because I don’t think the people understand what he is speaking of. Check this out….

12 Who else has held the oceans in his hand?
Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers?
Who else knows the weight of the earth
or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale?

27 O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles?
O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?
28 Have you never heard?
    Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
29 He gives power to the weak
    and strength to the powerless.
30 Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:12,27-31 NLT)

The Lord NEVER gets tired and worn out.

The Lord NEVER needs a nap.

The Lord NEVER sleeps or slumbers.

The Lord NEVER needs a break.

He is the Source of my strength. He is the Source of any power that I have. He is the object of my trust and He is all I need for any situation that I face. When I think I’ve reached the end of my rope, He supplies more rope or puts a knot in it for me to hang on to. He is faithful and true. He is full of Grace and Mercy, even when I’m irritable and grumpy. He is patient and kind, even when I’m hateful and frustrated.

When I read passages of God’s Word like this, I find a skip in my step and my load gets lighter just being reminded of His Power, His Strength, His Resources and His Presence in my heart.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
