Timing

I’m an early riser. I’m not sure who to credit or blame, but when I was around 14 years old, I got up early to milk the cows. My Dad milked two cows who gave more milk than the three I was in charge of milking.  We milked them by hand. This may have been when I started getting up early. I do like the early morning and starting my day with the Lord. He speaks through His Word to me. He speaks through the stillness of the day beginning.  He speaks to others late in the evening.

I was reading this morning about the tenth and final plague that the Lord brought down upon Egypt.  The death of the first born was a devastating plague upon the Egyptian people and they were gladly ready to be rid of the Israelites and their God. I was struck by God’s timing of the start of Passover. Check this out….

40 The people of Israel had lived in Egypt for 430 years. 41 In fact, it was on the last day of the 430th year that all the Lord’s forces left the land. 42 On this night the Lord kept his promise to bring his people out of the land of Egypt. So this night belongs to him, and it must be commemorated every year by all the Israelites, from generation to generation. (Exodus 12:40-42 NLT)

I need to notice God’s timing in all the areas of my life. He is precise with His timing. I am where I’m supposed to be. I need to learn to lean into His timing for me. I’ve often heard people say that “things happen for a reason” and I don’t disagree completely. When I’m walking in God’s Way and living in His Will, He is the director of my life. I need to pay close attention to His timing.

I wear a watch and carry a phone that has the time of day on it. I have a calendar that keeps my schedule in order. I don’t want to be late to any appointment. But only the Lord knows my real schedule. My day can change in an instant.

I was also reminded to be patient as God’s plan unfolds. His timing is not always on the same schedule that I think it should be.  I sometimes wish He would come on and rescue us from this world. Check this out…

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. (2 Peter 3:9 NLT)

I’m thankful for the Lord’s Presence in me.

I’m thankful for the Lord’s patience with me.

I trust Him with my life and all the timing that is connected with my life’s journey.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
