Timing

This concept of timing is often critical to the success of an event or an experience.  There is timing in so many areas of our life. There is timing music. There is timing in talk. There is timing in relationships. There is a “timing factor” is nearly all areas of our life. There is actually an idom or saying that “timing is everything”.  That might be a bit extreme, but there is no doubt that timing is often a very important component to any activity or event. Check this out….

1Elisha had told the woman whose son he had brought back to life, “Take your family and move to some other place, for the Lord has called for a famine on Israel that will last for seven years.” So the woman did as the man of God instructed. She took her family and settled in the land of the Philistines for seven years.

After the famine ended, she returned from the land of the Philistines, and she went to see the king about getting back her house and land. As she came in, the king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. The king had just said, “Tell me some stories about the great things Elisha has done.” And Gehazi was telling the king about the time Elisha had brought a boy back to life. At that very moment, the mother of the boy walked in to make her appeal to the king about her house and land.

“Look, my lord the king!” Gehazi exclaimed. “Here is the woman now, and this is her son—the very one Elisha brought back to life!”

“Is this true?” the king asked her. And she told him the story. So, he directed one of his officials to see that everything she had lost was restored to her, including the value of any crops that had been harvested during her absence. (2 Kings 8”:1-6 NLT)

I believe the Lord is all about timing.

I believe the Lord’s timing is always perfect. I can’t say that His timing is always in alignment with my timing, but I’ve learned that He knows way more than I know. He sees things that I can’t see. I don’t always understand the Lord’s timing, but I’ve learned to simply trust Him.

As I walk out my faith in God, I’ve learned that timing is one component that I have very little control over. I can control the timing of my words. I can control the timing of my actions. I can control the timing of my response or reaction to someone who is hurting me. In fact, a little time can bring healing to my pain.  A physical wound or cut usually starts healing immediately and in a few days, it is improving very well. I think the Lord uses time to heal my soul wounds too.

I want to lean into the Lord’s timing in my life. I want Him to manage the timing of my relationships and my business. I want to let Him have complete control in every area of my life.

11-12 The right word at the right time
is like a custom-made piece of jewelry,
And a wise friend’s timely reprimand
is like a gold ring slipped on your finger. (Proverbs 25:11-12 NLT)

Pressing On!
