The Time Is Now
There is something special about being present in the moment. There are people who prepare their whole life to live and never actually live life and enjoy it. There are workaholics and lazy bums and everyone in between. Life is much like a balancing act.
As I was reading the story of Esther, I was reminded that much of my past has prepared me for now. Much of my journey has been super helpful in my journey with the Lord. The Lord is still doing a work in my life that might be even more useful in two years rather than today. The phrase “for such a time as this” comes from Esther and is well used today.
Esthers people are being threatened with a massacre by this guy Haman. Her uncle, who raised her, is in deep grief for his people. He pleads with Esther to go before the king, but if she goes uninvited, she could die. She is scared and nervous. Check this out….
Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”
15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” 17 So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had ordered him. (Esther 4:14b-17 NLT)
Today is the day I have before me. What will I do with the opportunities that this day holds. I can dread the tasks before me or I can use today like I was made for this. I learned my work ethic from my parents. I’m sure that I’ve passed some things on to my kids because they learned it from me. I have had a good bit of formal education and I’ve also had lots of informal education. When I combine all my education along with all my experience, this may have all been preparing me for today or this season in my life. I don’t want to waste any opportunities that the Lord puts before me. I want to follow Him wherever and whenever He calls on me.
Pressing On!
