The One and Only
There are many facets and concepts of God that as a human, I don’t always understand. It’s hard for me to imagine that He has no beginning and no ending – He has always been and will always be. Everyone and everything I know about has a beginning or ending. The Lord doesn’t operate within the cycle of life that I live in. I can’t see into eternity to begin to comprehend what it’s really like. I am still growing in my faith. Even though I can’t understand so many things about God, I still trust in Him.
Isaiah reminds the people of Israel and me that God is the One and Only God worthy of my attention and worship. God made a way for me to connect directly to Him. I want to give him my hearts affection and my minds attention always. Check this out….
12 “Listen to me, O family of Jacob,
Israel my chosen one!
I alone am God,
the First and the Last.
13 It was my hand that laid the foundations of the earth,
my right hand that spread out the heavens above.
When I call out the stars,
they all appear in order.”
And now the Sovereign Lord and his Spirit
have sent me with this message.
17 This is what the Lord says—
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
“I am the Lord your God,
who teaches you what is good for you
and leads you along the paths you should follow.
18 Oh, that you had listened to my commands!
Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river
and righteousness rolling over you like waves in the sea. (Isaiah 48:12-13, 16b-18 NLT)
There are lots of noisy things seeking my attention in this world. These noising things promise big things but deliver small. These noises can crowd out the whisper of God. I am still learning to quiet these noisy things down to hear God speak into my heart and into my life.
He wants me to listen to Him.
He wants me to follow Him.
He wants the gaze of my heart to be upon Him.
He wants to direct my life.
He wants to lead me.
He wants me to trust Him with everything.
I do believe that His is the One and Only God. He created the heavens and the earth and all that is here upon the earth can be traced backed to something He created. I want to follow Him and listen to Him all the days of my life.
