The Lord Is With Me

Man praying with the BibleI will confess that I’ve done some pretty stupid stuff in my life. I have plenty to regret when I think back on my life. I also have plenty to be thankful for. I feel blessed in too many ways to try to count.

I remember clearly the night of a passion play where my faith became my own. I had lived off the faith of my parents and grandparents for many years. They were the first people I knew who knew the Lord. I decided at the point that God was as real as the chair I was sitting in. I’ve reconnected to the Lord many times over the years. There have been times that I seem to loose my way. If I will just listen, He’s always calling me back.

I love the story of young Samuel serving at the Temple. The Lord is raising up a new leader and I’m convinced that Eli, the priest knew it. The first time the Lord calls Samuel, he thinks it’s Eli the priest. After the third time, Eli instructs Samuel to say: “Speak Lord for your servant is listening”. I’ve learned to pray that simple seven-word prayer many times over the years. That simple prayer started Samuel on a journey of following the Lord and listening to His Word for years. Check this out…

19 The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground. 20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the Lord. 21 The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word. (1 Samuel 3:19-21 NIV)

I want the Lord to be with me every day.

I want Him to speak to me every day.

I want to listen for Him to speak anytime.

I so want His Presence to be all over my family, my church family, my work family and me.

I so feel the Presence of God when I spend some time in His Word simply listening for Him to speak. I can also feel the Presence of God when I’m simply hanging out with my family at home. I can feel the Presence of God when I’m walking the halls of my real estate office.

I want to listen for the Lord to speak wherever I am and whatever I’m doing. I want to hear clearly as He directs my path. I want His Presence to be all over ever facet of my life and work

I want Him to continue to speak into my heart.

I want Him to continue to reveal Himself to me.

I want Him to ALWAYS be with me.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
