The Lord Did It

I remember visualizing the devil as a red guy with a pitchforked tail. I now realize how naïve that I was. He is in disguise often. He temps me in all sorts of ways. I must be on guard against His evil schemes. One of the ways I can be alert is to study the Word of God and note the characteristics of the Lord. He gives me the tools to expose satan’s schemes. As I read the journey of Jesus and His followers, the complex truths seem more simple – He calls me to follow Him and follow His example.

The religious leaders were not happy with Jesus’ popularity, let alone the content of His teaching. They saw themselves as the only teachers of the law. Jesus began teaching in stories and it was very effective. The religious leaders had asked Jesus by whose authority was He teaching and healing. He didn’t answer the way they thought. He answered them with a story, and they knew. He answered their authority question with a quote from Psalms. Check this out….

10 “ ‘The stone that the builders rejected
    has now become the cornerstone.

11 This is the Lord’s doing,
and it is wonderful to see.’ “(Mark 12:10b-11 Psalm 118:22-23 NLT)

I want my life to be explained in 5 words – this is the Lord’s doing. I want Him to do things in my life that draw attention to Him. I want to make Him famous. I want to make Him known.  If I do anything that is good, it’s because of Him.

I want to follow the Lord and I want others to see Him inside of me. The Lord can do amazing things with a surrendered life, and I want Him to have my heart – totally surrendered to do with as He wishes.

If there is anything good coming out of what I’m doing or what I’ve done, it’s because it’s the Lord’s doing, and it is wonderful to see.

Here’s my heart Lord

Here’s my life Lord

Speak what is true.

I am found, I am Yours
I am loved, I’m made pure
I have life, I can breathe
I am healed, I am free

And You are strong
You are sure
You are life, You endure
And You are good, always true
You are light breaking through

And You are more than enough
You are here, You are love
You are hope, You are grace
You’re all I have, You’re everything (written by Chris Tomlin, Jason Ingram & Louie Giglio)
