The Light Is Here

I love to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset. I am not a fan of darkness, although I sleep better when it gets dark for sure. I love having light most of the time. I get excited when the time changes in the spring because we have more light in the evening. I like longer days with sunlight for sure.

Isaiah was a prophet telling what the future of Israel and Judah – the divided kingdom would look like soon. They had both rebelled against Creator God. He had warned them multiple times, but they continued to pursue their own selfish ways. The Isaiah brings some words that are profound even today. A new “government” is coming. A new plan will soon unfold. Check this out…

2 The people who walk in darkness
    will see a great light.
For those who live in a land of deep darkness,
    a light will shine.
For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
    And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
His government and its peace
    will never end.
He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David
    for all eternity.
The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
will make this happen! (Isaiah 9:2,6-7 NLT)

Isaiah is telling what is coming – I am on the other side and see that Jesus, in fact, did come. He flipped the world on its head. The Carpenter from Nazareth was no ordinary man, He was the Light of the World, the very Son of God. He had a simple invitation to all who met Him. He invited us into the Story of God. We were created for more than this life. He wanted us to shine light into the darkness that had invaded our world.

The Light of the World came to reveal to us the very heart of God. We now have direct access to God. He welcomes my questions. He speaks truth through His Word. When Jesus came, it became clear what is right and what is wrong. He has a way of “lighting up my life” that is profound and yet simple. He brought to earth the very Love of God dressed up in Light.

He calls me to be on mission with Him. He wants me to “light up the room” with His Light in me. His Spirit is revealed to others through how I live, walk and talk. Check this out….

14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. (Matthew 5:14-15 NLT)

Pressing On!
