Strong Grip On Truth

We live in a world that tries to make truth relative to whatever situation we face, but I believe that truth is absolute. As my situations changes the truth remains the same. I am a follower of Jesus and I believe that He brought truth to the world wrapped in grace. I’m thankful that even though I often push back on truth, His grace draws me back to His way and His truth.

I love the way Paul challenges the church in Thessalonica regarding holding tight to the truth. Check this out…

13 As for us, we can’t help but thank God for you, dear brothers and sisters loved by the Lord. We are always thankful that God chose you to be among the first to experience salvation—a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth.14 He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teaching we passed on to you both in person and by letter. (1 Thessalonians 2:13-15 NLT)

I believe that Truth can be found in the Word of God. I believe that Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and The Life. I believe that He is the Only Way to get to God. All other ways to God have been manufactured by man. Jesus is the one and ONLY Son of God. He came to earth to show us the way to God through His sacrifice for sin. He introduced us to truth and love. He loved in a way that knocked people off balance – He loved anyway. His Truth contradicted the oral traditions of the teacher of the law – He taught truth anyway.

I see Truth as non-negotiable.

I see Truth as timeless.

I have decided that I will follow Jesus and walk in His Truth as I live out my days here on earth. It is sometimes controversial and challenging, but I feel that I should keep a strong grip on Truth. I don’t want to make excuses for my sin – I need to confess it and be forgiven. Excuses have been defined as the skin of truth, stuffed with a lie. I must own my sin and the surrender it to the Grace of Jesus.

Keeping a grip on Truth calls for me to spend time reading and studying the Truth of God’s Word. There is no substitute for spending time with the Lord in His Word. My grip is stronger this morning because of my time with Him.

Pressing On!
