Strategy

I think strategy takes some thought and planning. If I attempt to do a big project with little thought or planning, the results are usually a disaster, or I may be fortunate enough to muddle through it.  I like to plan and strategize and then manage the plan. If I’m “flyin’ by the seat of my pants”, I’m usually exhausted from the stress and worry of my work. If I’m organized and have my strategy in place, I can execute the plan.

The Israelites were furious with the tribe of Benjamin – specifically the town of Gibeah for their sexual assault on the Levite’s concubine.  I don’t think that the people of Israel realized just how bad things had gotten. When everyone does what they think is right, the behavior is all over the map. The Lord provided the strategy for Israel to take the tribe town and they really defeated the tribe of Benjamin. Check this out…..

33 When the main group of Israelite warriors reached Baal-tamar, they turned and took up their positions. Meanwhile, the Israelites hiding in ambush to the west of Gibeah jumped up to fight. 34 There were 10,000 elite Israelite troops who advanced against Gibeah. The fighting was so heavy that Benjamin didn’t realize the impending disaster. 35 So the Lord helped Israel defeat Benjamin, and that day the Israelites killed 25,100 of Benjamin’s warriors, all of whom were experienced swordsmen. 36 Then the men of Benjamin saw that they were beaten. (Judges 20:33-36 NLT)

I really need a strategy in order to navigate the disruptions in my life. This Shelter in Place order has severely disrupted all of our lives. We can’t go to work normally. We can go visit each other. We can’t hold our grands.  I don’t know anyone in our country who hasn’t been touched by this disruption. I think a strategy is needed to personally make it through this time.

  1. I get up the same time each morning and have some quiet time with coffee.
  2. I shave and shower and get ready for work.
  3. I go down the hall to my desk and work.
  4. I take breaks from work.
  5. I adjusted to a lot of Zoom calls and other video platforms.
  6. I think communication is one of our biggest challenges through this disruption.

I still want the Lord to help me strategize how to work and lead in the midst of a crisis. He is Steady, Strong and ALWAYS Present. I will seek Him. I will listen to Him. I will communicate with Him first thing to start my disrupted day.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
