Stories

I love a good story. I really like the story when it’s being told by someone who was there and offers detail, insight, and perspective. Some stories have been embellished over time and with multiple telling. Others have become abbreviated and short.

Every person has a story. They have a story to tell, and they have one that is still being written. The story that I have to tell is my story – my life. I’ve been on earth just over sixty years and my story are the many experiences I’ve had over the course of my life.

Jesus told stories to teach truth. I can use my stories to teach truth too. Check this out…

1Once again Jesus began teaching by the lakeshore. A very large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat. Then he sat in the boat while all the people remained on the shore. He taught them by telling many stories in the form of parables, (Mark 4:1-2a NLT)

I can learn from the stories of others.

I can learn from the stories of my life.

I can learn from the stories of Jesus.

Some of my favorite memories of people who’ve gone before me are the stories that they’ve shared with me. My Jesus story begins when I was in third grade, and I wanted to become a Christian. My parents spoke with me and then I met with the preacher.  I think the reason for wanting to become a Christian was my fear of hell. Fast forward about 10 years and I was in Bible college when I saw a passion play of Jesus’ death on a cross. My faith became my own that night. I realized just how much Jesus loved me and I made a commitment to love Him and live for Him. I am not a perfect person by any stretch of the imagination. I do want all the stories of my life to point to Jesus, the Author & Perfector of my faith.

Pressing On!
