Stir My Heart

These three words became a prayer for me this morning. It’s election day here in the United States. As always, our country is very divided in our political views and choices.  I haven’t watched a news cast in several weeks because they all seem slanted to me one way or the other. In order to make a choice, it seems we have to hate the other candidate.

I was reading in the Old Testament after the people of Israel were taken captive. Cyrus, the king of Persia was fulfilling prophesy given by God. Then God stirred his heart to allow the people of Israel to go back to Jerusalem. Check this out….

Then God stirred the hearts of the priests and Levites and the leaders of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin to go to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple of the Lord. And all their neighbors assisted by giving them articles of silver and gold, supplies for the journey, and livestock. They gave them many valuable gifts in addition to all the voluntary offerings. (Ezra 1:5-6 NLT)

I want to ask the Lord to “stir my heart”.

I want Him to prompt me.

I want Him to nudge me.

I want Him to direct my path.

I want Him to lead me.

I want Him to guide me.

I want Him to move my heart.

I want the Lord to stir my heart with the things He wants me to do. I want Him to stir my heart with the things He wants me to say. I want Him to stir my heart with the places He wants me to go.  want Him to speak to me. I want Him to grow my heart. I want Him to expand my influence for His kingdom. I want to love like He loves. I want to hear like He hears. I want to pursue Him with a stirred heart.

My heart becomes open to stirring when I seek Him through His Word and through sitting before Him in prayer. His Spirit lives in me and stirs my heart.

Here’s My Heart by Crowder  This song is a pray about a surrendered heart ready for stirring.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
