Shelter

This is one of our most basic needs as human beings. We need food, clothing and shelter. I’ve seen homeless men and women seeking shelter under overpasses, bridges and anywhere they can find to avoid the rain and the elements of the weather. I started a few years ago waking up and spending the first few minutes of my day with a prayer of gratitude. I am thankful for my home. It’s a place of shelter for sure. It feels comfortable. My kids grew into adults while living under the shelter of my home and my leadership as their Dad. I need the shelter of God, the Father over me. I need to know of His Presence and His Protection over me. This is real to me for sure and I’ve learned that I can trust Him. David pens a few words regarding this very subject. Check this out….

But the Lord reigns forever,
    executing judgment from his throne.
He will judge the world with justice
and rule the nations with fairness.
The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed,
a refuge in times of trouble.
10 Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you. (Psalm 9:7-10 NLT)

The Lord is a shelter for me when I need shelter. He is even a shelter for me when I don’t know that I needed Him. His Presence with me and over me gives me confidence and peace. I have learned to trust His Presence and His leading in my life. I have never felt abandoned by the Lord. I have had times when I didn’t understand why He did something or allowed something to occur. I am still learning to trust His heart even when I can see His hand or understand why something happened the way it did.

I believe that the Lord keeps me sheltered from more harm and hurt than I would face without Him. He is with me when I am suffering, or I’m hurt. I believe His Presence with me in suffering really strengthened my faith and my resolve to trust Him with everything in my life. He is my shade and my shelter. He is Present and Protective of me.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
