Shattered

I have felt like my life was shattered before. I have had my heart broken too many times. I have survived being fired with a 3-week-old baby. I have survived divorce after 11 years and 3 beautiful kids. I have survived my son being diagnosed with cancer and surviving open chest surgery to remove the tumor. Through every shattered dream or struggle, the Lord’s Presence has directed my path through to hope and healing. I can’t give Him enough credit of making me into who I am today.

Jeremiah spoke to Jerusalem and Judah about the shattered life that was coming to them because of their disobedience to the Lord. It was about to get ugly and they simply ignored him. Check this out….

1This is what the Lord said to me: “Go and buy a clay jar. Then ask some of the leaders of the people and of the priests to follow you. Go out through the Gate of Broken Pots to the garbage dump in the valley of Ben-Hinnom, and give them this message. Say to them, ‘Listen to this message from the Lord, you kings of Judah and citizens of Jerusalem! This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: I will bring a terrible disaster on this place, and the ears of those who hear about it will ring!

10 “As these men watch you, Jeremiah, smash the jar you brought. 11 Then say to them, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: As this jar lies shattered, so I will shatter the people of Judah and Jerusalem beyond all hope of repair. They will bury the bodies here in Topheth, the garbage dump, until there is no more room for them.

15 “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will bring disaster upon this city and its surrounding towns as I promised, because you have stubbornly refused to listen to me.’”(Jeremiah 19:1-3,10-11,15 NLT)

I am so thankful that the Lord had a better way in store for restoring shattered lives. He sent Jesus to the earth the become the Way, the Truth and the Life. He would become the answer to our shattered life of sin and disobedience.  The Lord has shown great patience with me over the years. He has been with me and attracted me back to Himself from some stupid decisions. I have contemplated sin for a season, but thankfully, He reminds me of the futility of that decision. One dumb decision today can shatter my reputation and do irreparable damage to my character, but God is faithful to forgive.

God is the Repairer of shattered lives.

He is the Restorer of wounded souls.

He is the Healer of hurting hearts.

He is the Creator of my whole heart, so He knows just how to restore and heal my heart when it’s broken.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
