Sent

I have been sent places before. There are times when I don’t really want to go, but because of the person asking, I’ll go. For example, I’ve been sent to the grocery store to pick up certain items for a dish that my wife wants to make. I have a list along with our regular list of items. It’s like I’m on a mission to find all these ingredients.

The Lord sends all believers on a mission, but it’s way less complicated than going to a grocery store. Our mission is to simply share the difference in our lives since Jesus saved us. I think this is what Paul is speaking to in Romans. Check this out….

13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” (Romans 10:13-15 NLT)

I believe that all believers have been sent to share the good news. I think it’s really cool that pastors and ministers who serve on staff at church are freed up to have greater focus on sharing the good news. I don’t think the Pastors are the only ones responsible for sharing the good news. I think it’s my calling too.

I remember Jesus telling the healed demoniac in Mark chapter 5. Jesus healed him from demon possession and the crowd was blown away. This is the story where Jesus gave the demons permission to go into a herd of pigs and they went down a steep hillside and drowned in the water. Check out what happened next….

18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon possessed begged to go with him. 19 But Jesus said, “No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.” 20 So the man started off to visit the Ten Towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed at what he told them. (Mark 5:18-20 NLT)

My story of Jesus changing my life is uneventful compared to this guy. It is my story, just the same. Jesus changed everything in my life and I should share that with everyone who will listen. I am sent by Jesus.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
