Seek

My favorite part of Hide and Seek was the hiding. I wasn’t sure about the seeking because I was a bit scared or even intimidated by the search. As I grew older, I became more confident in the seeking because I didn’t fear where I’d find the person or person’s I was looking for. Now that I’m Pop, my grands love playing this little game.

Hide and Seek is a game that is still played today. We sometimes think we’re hidden from being seen, but we’re still not hidden. Our actions and activities are on display for others to see. Our character is often revealed in what we do rather than what we say. I don’t ever want to try hiding from the Lord. I want Him to see me and know me. I want to confess my sins and take some ownership in my behavior.  I also want to seek Him every day. I seek Him in His Word. I seek Him when I ask for counsel from others. I seek Him when I submit to accountability to others.

My reading this morning was in Psalms. I’m not sure if David was the author or not. I loved this challenge to worship and seek. Check this out…

Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness.
    Let the whole world know what he has done.
Sing to him; yes, sing his praises.
    Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
Exult in his holy name;
    rejoice, you who worship the Lord.
Search for the Lord and for his strength;
    continually seek him. (Psalm 150:1-4 NLT)

“Continually Seek” implies that I don’t stop seeking.  I can seek Him at home. I can seek Him when I’m driving to work or wherever. I can seek Him at work. I can seek Him at play. Seeking Him starts with asking Him to lead me. Seeking Him also has me talking to Him about everything. He’s my Counselor.

This morning as I open His Word, I’m seeking Him. I want to see His face. I want to hear His voice. I want Him to walk with me today. I want to hear from Him throughout this day. I want to see Him in others. I want to see Him in creation. He can speak to me in my circumstances. He can speak to me despite my circumstances.

If I seek Him, I will find Him. He longs for my heart. He knows that my actions follow my heart. If He has my heart devoted to seeking Him, the activities of my life will follow my heart. My heart is seeking the Lord intentionally today and every day!

Pressing On!

Dwayne
