Seduction

beautiful woman with long hairThis is a strong word that means to “attract powerfully” or “attract someone into a belief or into a course of action that is ill advised”. The person or persons doing the seduction are usually well aware of exactly what they are doing.

Seduction happens in our faith.

Seduction happens in our families.

Seduction happens in our schools.

Seduction happens in our workplace.

It takes a lot of inner strength, wisdom and resolve to push off seduction. I believe that walking with the Lord can provide what it takes to recognize seduction while it’s a long way off. Israel fell prey to seduction from Moab. Check this out…

1 While Israel was staying in Shittim, the men began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women, 2 who invited them to the sacrifices to their gods. The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods. 3 So Israel yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor. And the Lord’s anger burned against them. (Numbers 25:1-3 NIV)

The Lord hates seduction because it a tool of the enemy to destroy people and harm them deeply for years to come. The enemy makes things look so good that wisdom and discernment are tossed out the window. Seduction involves lies and deceit.

One of the ways to push off seduction is to cultivate a strong heart for the Lord. The more time I spend in His Word, the more He’s building the strength of my heart to pursue His heart. I remember my mom telling me years ago that “beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes clear to the bone”. Seduction is an art to some people. They see it as a challenge or a game. They don’t count the costs or survey the pain that they can cause. They are very self-centered and controlling. My heart is moved this morning as I’ve seen the path of destruction left behind by seduction. I also know that it’s a powerful tool used by the enemy to destroy people. I also am aware that the enemy has a target on my back.

Lord, help me to be keenly aware and constantly alert to the seductions of the enemy.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
