Secure

This word means free from danger or not exposed to danger. I have an alarm system at my home and there is a level of security that comes with it. It feels safe inside knowing that my home is locked down and protected. Security can be a fleeting concept though. I can’t stay inside a “locked-down” home at all times. I have to get in my vehicle to go work or to get food and supplies to bring back to my home. Our world is a bit crazy these days, it’s hard to feel really secure. There are those who went to a mosque in Pennsylvania recently and a crazed gunman killed several of the worshippers there. There are kids at school in Florida who should feel safe, but they became the target of violence. To be secure for me is more than physical security. I was reminded this morning that I won’t live here on earth forever, so I need to look forward toward eternal security. Check this out….

Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion;
    they will not be defeated but will endure forever.
Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem,
    so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.
The wicked will not rule the land of the godly,
    for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong.
O Lord, do good to those who are good,
    whose hearts are in tune with you. (Psalm 125:1-4 NLT)

My trust in the Lord is playing the long game –  the eternal game. I don’t want to be paralyzed by fear here in the physical realm. I do want to be diligent and keenly aware of my surroundings and circumstances, but I don’t want to live in constant fear. I have decided to put my trust in the One Who always knows what is happening and what is coming my way. I want to put my trust in the One Who has my eternal security squared away.

I want to trust in the Lord and be strong and not worry about the things that “might happen”. I want to trust in the Lord and be steady and consistent in my journey with the Lord. I want Him to direct my steps and give me wisdom and discernment in decisions that come my way. I actually do ask Him to protect my family from harm and the guard their steps.

I don’t know what all is ahead of me today, but I know the One Who holds today. I trust Him, and I will walk out this day with His Presence in me. I trust Him to prompt me and lead me on the path He has for me. His Presence makes me feel secure no matter what comes my way.

Pressing On!

Dwayne
